our favorite, forgotten constellations

cotton clouds wisp far behind
transparent panes stand stark between
sea blue skies and sad stargazers,

impatient for too-bright colors
to drain to opposite hemispheres,
so we can sleep beneath and dream
approximations of our favorite,
forgotten constellations.
